Four renowned speakers discussed the double challenge Latin America is facing to respond to the urgency of infectious diseases like COVID-19 and, at the same time, protect health services for non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

Felicia Knaul, director of the Institute for Advanced Study of the Americas and professor at the Miller School of Medicine (UM), proposed the approach of a “syndemic” and explained that we are experiencing two pandemics in which inequality, poverty and discrimination exacerbate its devastation.
